*NOTE: For those of you in the Philadelphia area, Andorra will be playing a release show on February 8th at World Cafe Live with Reckless Serenade and The Escape.*
Philadelphia is home to many talented musicians and I have the privilege of being able to listen to their music. One such act is the rock band, Andorra I just picked up their new album, entitled Etc, Etc, Etc… and I am very impressed. From the beginning of the first song, Wired, the band brings huge energy. Not only do they bring the heat, they also have the musical chops to back it up. They play the kind of rock that makes you want to get up and air guitar along. Andorra definitely have come up with their own sound, and seem to have combined some of the best aspects of rock from the 70’s to today. It’s refreshing when you hear a band that sounds like themselves rather than just like someone else.
There isn’t a bad song on the album, but some stood out to me more than the others. Wired made a great opening track, Tell Me Father slows the tempo down just a bit and brings some very thoughtful lyrics, and Ain’t it a Shame is a very catchy track that also has a nicely done music video to accompany it. The final track, which is aptly named The End includes some outstanding guitar work and leaves you wanting more. Looks like I’ll just have to wait for the next album! The production values are very tight on this album and you can tell that the band did not rush this. It’s a very professional album, particularly for a first release.
I highly recommend that you check this one out, if you like good rock music, you won’t be disappointed.
Rating: 8/10, it’s a very strong album, particularly for a first release.
